Interlibrary Loan

Interlibrary Loan is a service offered through our library to those with a valid library card that is in good standing (i.e. user info is up to date, and the account has no accumulated or overdues).

If there is an item that you would like to borrow that is not available in our collection, we may be able to order it through the Interlibrary Loan System of Ontario Public Libraries, with some limitations.

Limitations

  • Only library materials that are 1 year or older may be requested using this service. Lending libraries will not send out new releases.

  • Requests can take approximately 2-6 weeks to fill. Some requests may take longer depending on the location of the lending library and the availability of the title.

  • The library cannot guarantee your request will be fulfilled by a certain date.

  • Library materials that are already available at the library cannot be requested unless it is for a book club

  • There is a maximum of 2 open requests - this does not include existing interlibrary loans on your account.

  • Reference materials and textbooks cannot be requested

  • Due dates are set by the lending library and renewals are not always guaranteed. Late fees of up to $1/day may apply.

  • Not all libraries lend DVDs and Audiobooks which may affect availability

  • Borrowers are responsible for the replacement cost of lost or damaged items. This cost will be determined by the lending library.

  • Loss of borrowing privileges will result if a patron is consistently late returning interlibrary loan material.
