Cultural Corner Spotlight: Toshika Hino

March's Cultural Corner Spotlight at the Hastings Highlands Public Library is woodworking artist, Toshika Hino.

For almost ten years now Toshika Hino has been woodworking in his small, off-the-grid workshop in Lake St. Peter. He began by carving spoons with only a knife and gouge and ever since, has essayed to improve his craftsmanship and design skills. In addition to trees Toshi loves hand cut joinery, classic designs and Japanese aesthetics.

Click through the gallery below to see a preview of some of Toshi's work, including his take on traditional japanese boxes.

You can find more of his furniture, turnings and carvings at:

Didn't get a chance to visit Eliza Plumley's display last month? You can still see some of her work in our Cultural Corner for the month of March.
